Steps in Getting Married

GETTING MARRIED, WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Step 1. Contact me to set up a meeting and check availability of a proposed date. At this meeting we can go through your options. View Legal Requirements

Step 2.  At our meeting we will begin to prepare the Form 13,  “Notice of Intended Marriage ” (NOIM). This Notice is valid for 18 months prior to your date but you need to lodge it with me not less than one month before your wedding date. At this initial meeting we can discuss the details and type of ceremony you would like.  Download Notice of Intended Marriage

Step 3. If you decide to book me to conduct your wedding you can arrange to pay a non-refundable deposit.

Step 4. We will discuss your requirements for the ceremony and I can loan you any resources required, sample readings, poems, vows, this will help to plan the ceremony to cater for your personality, preparing a draft to forward to you.

Step 5. I would never suggest having a wedding without a rehearsal, preferably at the place of the marriage, or some other suitable venue if this is not possible. It is usual at the rehearsal to go over the paperwork for the ceremony so you are familiar with it. The rehearsal is an integral part of the process, a chance to go through all the choreography that can make or break your ceremony. The balance of my fee is usually paid at this time.

Step 6. Any modifications to the ceremony will be addressed along the way, with the final draft being completed and forwarded for your final authorization. This is a team effort so we do go back and forth a bit till we ‘get it just right’ for you.

Step 7. On the day of the ceremony I will make sure that I am there and available 40 mins prior to the ceremony.

Step 8. After the completion of the ceremony I will arrange to forward all the required documentation to the Registrar at Births, Deaths and Marriages (B D M), within 14 days of the ceremony date as required by Section 50 of the Marriage Act 1961.
